Manila, DMW ink deal for returning OFWs

The Manila city government and the Department of Migrant Workers–National Capital Region (DMW‑NCR) signed an agreement on Aug. 26 to provide jobs and livelihood aid to returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso joined officials from the DMW, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) during the ceremonial signing at the San Andres Sports Complex.
The agreement was signed as part of the DMW’s “Bayanihan para sa Balikbayang Manggagawa: A National Reintegration Networks and Jobs Fair” program.
Under the partnership, the Manila City government and DMW-NCR will work together to help returning Manileño OFWs reintegrate into their communities.
It will also strengthen efforts against illegal recruitment and human trafficking.
Around 500 returning OFWs are expected to participate in the one-day event, which offers job opportunities, livelihood assistance, skills training, reintegration support, and other government services.
Government agencies, local government units, private sector partners, and licensed recruitment agencies are also participating in the program. (Shane Quiachon)
