A 47-year-old man was arrested in Pasay City after police recovered a loaded .38-caliber revolver from him following a reported attempt to steal air-conditioning wires before dawn on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Pasay City Police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspect as Edgar, who was caught at around 3:30 a.m. on Sta. Monica Street, Barangay 10.
De Sesto said personnel from Police Sub Station 1 were on routine patrol when a restaurant employee reported a man allegedly dismantling air-conditioning wires.
The suspect fled when approached, prompting a chase. Police found a revolver with four live rounds tucked in his waist.
Police arrested him for illegal possession of a firearm under Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Although the incident began with a theft report, restaurant management declined to file a separate complaint after confirming no property had been taken.
