Liza Soberano named to Golden Globes documentary prize jury

Liza Soberano is taking on a new role in the international film scene as part of the jury for the Golden Globes Impact Prize for Documentary, which will be awarded during this year’s Venice Film Festival.

The prize is a new initiative of the Golden Globes and Artemis Rising Foundation, with support from Think-Film Impact Production, according to Variety.

It aims to recognize documentaries that use filmmaking to shed light on significant social issues and encourage meaningful conversations.

For Liza, documentaries have a special ability to go beyond simply telling a story.

“I've always believed that film has the power to do more than entertain, it can challenge injustice, offer safety, inspire hope and remind us of our shared humanity,” she said.

The actress also expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to be part of the panel.

“Documentary filmmaking is where some of the most courageous and unforgettable storytelling is happening today. I'm honored to serve on this jury,” she added.

Joining Liza on the jury are Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne, Artemis Rising Foundation founder Regina K. Scully, Impact Partners co-founder Geralyn White Dreyfous, and Think-Film Impact Production CEO Danielle Turkov Wilson.

The documentary chosen as the winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize from the Artemis Rising Foundation.

The 83rd Venice Film Festival is scheduled to take place from September 2 to 12.
