Filipino singer-songwriter Gwyn Dorado, who has been making waves in South Korea following her successful run in a Korean singing competition, was hailed by President Marcos during their meeting at Malacañan.

Dorado met the President during a courtesy call on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 25.

Malacañang said Marcos recognized her rising success and growing international presence in South Korea’s music and entertainment industry.

The Chief Executive briefly interacted with Dorado, 21, who is based in South Korea. 

He praised Dorado for her career milestones that have brought Filipino talent to the international spotlight.

Dorado made history as the only foreign contestant to reach the Top 4 of South Korea’s “Sing Again 4,” where she finished as runner-up.

She later emerged as the grand winner of the Netflix Korea reality music competition “Famous Singers Need a Hit Song,” which ran from February to May 2026.

Her victory further expanded her career in South Korea, where she has released original music and contributed to the soundtrack of the South Korean romance-comedy series “My Royal Nemesis.”

Dorado’s international journey began at a young age. At 10, she became one of the grand finalists of the first season of “Asia’s Got Talent,” establishing her as one of the country’s promising young vocal talents.

Following their conversation, Dorado gave the President a brief musical performance, singing a portion of the Filipino classic “Bato sa Buhangin.”
