The Pasig City Police Station identified the suspect as "Chan Chan." He was arrested during a joint anti-criminality operation in Barangay Pinagbuhatan on Aug. 22 after he was caught engaging in the illegal gambling game "cara cruz." His cohorts managed to escape.
During the search, authorities also recovered a heat-sealed transparent sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, weighing about 0.50 grams and worth an estimated P3,400.
Authorities added that the same suspect was also caught on CCTV allegedly robbing a female student in Barangay Pinagbuhatan and taking her mobile phone on Aug. 18.
Based on police records, Chan Chan was also previously involved in a carnapping incident in the same barangay on Nov. 18, 2019, as well as cases involving Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in 2021, 2024, and 2025.
“The suspect has recently been released from detention in connection with a previous drug-related case,” police said.
He is now under police custody and is facing charges for violation of PD 1602 (Cara y Cruz) and Section 11, Article II of RA 9165.
