CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur — Two men were killed while two others were hurt in separate vehicular accidents in Ilocos Sur on August 21 and 22, police said.
A 39-year-old carpenter died after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck along the national highway in Barangay Calanuitan, Sinait, on Saturday evening, August 22.
Police said the victim was not wearing a helmet, had no driver’s license and was reportedly under the influence of alcohol. He sustained severe head injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the Ilocos Sur District Hospital-Sinait.
The pickup driver, a 49-year-old resident of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, and his two passengers were unharmed.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man was also killed and two others were injured when the two motorcycles they were riding on collided with each other along the national highway in Barangay Becques, Tagudin, at around 11:20 p.m. on Friday, August 21.
Police said the victim was driving a motorcycle without a driver’s license, with a 26-year-old back-rider. They collided with another motorcyle driven by 28-year-old man who was not wearing a helmet.
The three were rushed to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital in Barangay Bio, Tagudin, but the driver of the first motorcycle was declared dead on arrival.
Police are continuing their investigation into both accidents. (Freddie Lazaro)
