The Nationals couldn’t sustain their strong start as the vengeful Chinese Taipei squad banked on a scintillating 23-3 run to turn the tables on Gilas.
The Filipinos were actually holding on to a 38-26 count before the back-breaking rally from the Taiwanese that put Gilas behind, 41-49, at the break. Chinese Taipei kept Gilas at bay from there to avenge its sorry 88-89 defeat at the hands of the Filipinos in the group stage.
Gilas even trailed by as many as 14 and, despite repeated efforts, just couldn’t get the job done against the much-improved Chinese Taipei team.

The Filipinos simply found no answer to Carter Matthew Coleman who fired 23 points on top of 23 rebounds and four steals. Yu-Sheng Xing also finished with 17 points for Chinese Taipei which finished at the seventh place in the continental tiff.
