Steve Lacy meets Filipino family for the first time during Lalala Fest visit

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Steve Lacy got to reconnect with his Filipino roots during his visit to Manila for Lalala Fest.

The “Bad Habit” hitmaker met relatives from his father’s side for the first time and shared moments from their reunion on Instagram.

“Met my ates and my kuya on my tatay's side for the very first time and their kids too,” Lacy wrote.

He also noted the timing of his first performance in the Philippines, which took place on the 18th anniversary of his father’s death.

“And get this, I just so happened to perform in the Philippines for the very first time at Lalala Fest on the 18th anniversary of our father's death. How special?!” he added.

Lacy also posted a family photo and a video of their time together at a karaoke bar.

Born to a Filipino father and an American mother, Lacy performed at the inaugural Lalala Fest on August 21 at the World Trade Center.

Aside from “Bad Habit,” Lacy is known for songs including “Dark Red,” “Infrunami,” and “Oh Yeah.”
