Strong Group completed a hard-earned 96-91 win over Jordan to finish at fifth place in the 2026 William Jones Cup at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium Friday, Aug. 21.
The SGA ballers overcame a 62-70 deficit heading into the fourth and leaned on a 13-4 blitz capped by Titing Manalili’s inside basket to build a 94-85 breakaway and seal the match.
SGA entered the exit doors with a 6-1 win-loss record to finish fifth overall.
“[The real three-peat.] Three-peat "denied." But the support? Three times stronger. To our Filipino and newfound Taiwanese fans, thank you for making every game feel like home,” SGA wrote on its social media post.
“We may not have gotten the ending we wanted, but we’re proud of how this team fought until the end. Maraming salamat for believing in SGA,” it added.
Listing 9.7 points per contest during the group stage, Boban Marjanovic stepped up big time with a tournament-high 21 points and eight rebounds, while Tajuan Agee added 17 points and four rebounds.
Matthew Wright and Ian Miller uncorked 15 points each, while DJ Fenner scored 11 points with Manalili backing them up with six points and four assists.
Hadi Alhami sparked Jordan’s offense with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Abdullah Olajuwon, the son of NBA great Hakeem Olajuwon, posted 18 points in a losing cause.
