Mazda Philippines has just taken the wraps off the all-new 2027 CX-5. The all-new CX-5 now has a more confident design, enhanced interior comfort, and greater everyday usability.
New style
The latest generation stays true to its distinctive silhouette while introducing sleek proportions, a bolder presence, and improved everyday functionality. The all-new CX-5’s proportions have been optimized for a more planted and roomier vehicle. Compared to its predecessor, it is longer (+115 mm), wider (+15 mm), and taller (+30 mm). Similarly, its wheelbase has grown (+115 mm) resulting in more cabin space than ever before, particularly in the form of best-in-class second-row legroom.
Mazda designers raised the CX-5’s nose to enhance its presence, to give drivers a greater sense of security and a more commanding view of the road. The front wing lines are now easier to see from the driver’s seat, helping with spatial awareness in tighter spaces. The side profile continues Mazda’s Kodo design philosophy, combining organic surface transitions with crisp lines to convey motion and simplicity. Standard on the all-new CX-5 variants are 19-inch alloy wheels with a black metallic finish. It also features gloss black lower cladding creating a strikingly sporty presence. At the rear, new linear LED taillights keep the overall look clean and modern. A hands-free power tailgate is standard.
The all-new CX-5 is available in six colors, including the new Navy Blue Mica, introduced for the first time in the Mazda line-up. Other colors are Soul Red Crystal, Rhodium White, Machine Gray, Jet Black, and Aero Gray.
A crafted interior
Inside, the all-new Mazda CX-5 embodies the principle of Ma, a key pillar of Japanese aesthetics that prioritize space, balance, and harmony. The result is an uncluttered, spacious cabin that is serene and functional, perfect for families, where the driver can focus and the passengers can relax.
The driver-oriented environment features a horizontal door-to-door dashboard layout. The driver gets an all-digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster with customizable access to key vehicle information, including ADAS status, navigation cues, and media playback. A head-up display is projected on the front windshield. Clean capacitive steering wheel switches integrate commonly used functions such as Mi-Drive mode selection, media controls, or the camera button for quickly checking the car’s surroundings. In addition to touch-sensitive slide gestures—for example when adjusting volume—the switches also retain familiar rocker-style press operation.
It comes with a new integrated 15.6-inch infotainment system taking center stage. The redesigned center console has cupholders and a wireless charger, while longer, better-aligned armrests and refined front seats create a more stable and relaxed posture. The in-car experience boasts of improved safety and connectivity. The intuitive and always-on touchscreen has smartphone-like usability and a customizable home screen with quick access to frequently used features. It provides seamless access to voice assistance for access to popular apps for music, video streaming, and news. The touchscreen system also replaces previously physical controls, such as climate control functions, for a more streamlined layout, and provides an enhanced overview of the surroundings via the 360° View Monitor. The CX-5 comes standard with a Bose 12-speaker premium sound system with Perceptual Sound Rendering (PSR).
Behind, knee clearance is increased by 64 mm and headroom by 29 mm. The rear door opening has also been expanded by 70 mm. Combined with a wider scuff plate and lowered hip point, entry and exit are more natural and effortless for occupants of all ages. The extended wheelbase also enhances cargo usability. By increasing load floor depth by approximately 45 mm, bulky items such as luggage can be stored upright, improving flexibility and making better use of the available space.
Interior materials and finishes make use of Japanese Sen Wood. High-contact areas are finished in black to minimize visible wear and tear. Genuine sports tan leather seats come with powered front seat adjustment, with memory presets for the driver. Seat ventilation is standard on the all-new CX-5. New ambient lighting comes with a choice of seven colors. A panoramic sunroof makes the all-new CX-5 feel even more spacious and open.
The cabin features sound-absorbing and insulating materials in key areas, to keep noise for passengers to an absolute minimum. Precisely tuning the vibration of each component allowed unwanted sounds to be minimized. The updated engine, equipped with a balancer shaft, helps reduce vibrations and low-frequency noise.
Effortless control
Mazda is committed to the joy of driving, and the Jinba Ittai feeling of oneness between car and driver. To support this, Mazda revised the suspension setup with softer springs, adjusted the size of anti-roll bars and carefully tuned the dampers to better absorb road irregularities. This provides better control and road-holding, especially during faster cornering, while still ensuring a smooth and stable ride. It also more effectively absorbs vibrations from uneven road surfaces, improving overall comfort.
The steering feel has been refined to offer a lighter, more intuitive handling while maintaining accurate feedback from the vehicle. The pedal response has also been optimized to allow drivers to experience swifter, more predictable feedback, and consistent acceleration without delays.
Powering the all-new CX-5 is a new 2.5-liter e-Skyactiv-G coupled with the Mazda hybrid system. This combination delivers a more efficient and responsive engine, while retaining the mechanical purity and direct feedback.
The engine output and torque peak at 181-PS and 242-Nm. For the first time, the all-new Mazda CX-5 introduces full hybrid technology, bringing greater efficiency and refinement to the driving experience. The system works seamlessly with the engine to support smoother acceleration and deceleration, helping optimize fuel efficiency while maintaining the responsive and engaging drive that Mazda is known for. The engine is mated to a recalibrated six-speed automatic transmission. It has been programed for reduced shift frequency and smoother or crisper transitions depending on load and the driver’s preference.
Enhanced safety
Reflecting Mazda’s commitment to advanced safety and driver-support systems, the all-new Mazda CX-5 has achieved the highest level of safety with a five-star rating at the Euro NCAP and ANCAP as well as a Top Safety Pick+ recognition by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
It introduces a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) improving safety, awareness, and comfort over a wide range of everyday driving scenarios. The Mazda i-Activsense package includes: Front & Rear Smart Brake Support (SBS), enhanced Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Driver Monitoring and Driver Attention Alert, Cruising and Traffic Support (CTS) with Lane Change Assist (LCA), and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK).
“Since Bermaz Auto Philippines took over the exclusive distributorship of Mazda in the Philippines, the CX-5 has been a core part of our line-up. Known for its distinctive design and responsive performance, it is the choice for drivers seeking a refined yet practical compact SUV,” said Steven Tan, Mazda Philippines President and CEO. “Now on its third generation, the all-new Mazda CX-5 combines a more intuitive human-machine interface with the same emotional appeal that defines the brand expressed through Jinba-Ittai driving dynamics and Kodo design, while enhancing everyday comfort through improved packaging and ride quality. It meets the demands of daily commuting while remaining versatile enough for weekend travel or family use.”
The all-new CX-5 is offered in a single 2.5L AWD HEV Premium Plus variant, priced at P2,495,000. A FWD HEV variant will be offered next year. The price includes a three-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and a complimentary five-year service plan, providing customers with greater peace of mind and an elevated ownership experience.
