Film director arrested in Laguna on child abuse charges

STA. ROSA CITY, Laguna — Police arrested a 42‑year‑old film director in Barangay Tagapo for alleged violation of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Police identified the suspect as “Direk Erol” of Quezon City. He was nabbed on Aug. 15 at 8:55 a.m. inside a popular mall by operatives of the Laguna Special Operations Unit, the provincial intelligence team, and Sta. Rosa City police.
The arrest stemmed from a warrant issued on July 8, 2025, by Judge Fernando Tolosa Sagun of Regional Trial Court Branch 58, Quezon City, for two counts of violating Section 5(b) of Republic Act 7610.
Each case carried a recommended bail of P180,000.
The suspect is now detained at the Sta. Rosa City Police custodial facility.
