Geloy Concepcion turns everyday pieces into wearable affirmations with a new embroidery collection

It is often said that fashion can be a powerful mood booster. A favorite jacket can make us feel happier, a treasured accessory can make getting dressed feel more personal, while the right pair of shoes can give us the confidence to take on the day.
With all the challenges we face today, having an added source of support—whether emotional or simply a stylistic boost—from the clothes we wear is certainly welcome. But when silhouettes, designs, and colors fail to provide that sense of comfort, perhaps a literal note can do the trick.

That is what artist Geloy Concepcion brings to Uniqlo Philippines’ latest Re.Uniqlo embroidery collection. Dubbed “Notes to Self,” the embroidery line not only aims to give your favorite pieces a personal touch, but also transforms them into wearable love letters—little reminders that we can carry with us wherever we go.
This collaboration mirrors Geloy’s process when it comes to curating his own exhibitions. Through his works, he captures raw, human stories through intimate film photography. In 2019, he posted a simple question on his personal social media account: “What are the things you wanted to say but never did?” Vulnerable confessions came in by the droves, kicking off his most acclaimed project, which now extends to his partnership with Uniqlo.
For the collection, Geloy drafted 15 quotes to be turned into embroidery designs. The set was narrowed down to five affirmations, stylized as handwritten notes by the artist himself. These include: “I hope you choose your own happiness,” “I’ve got too much love for one life,” “Learn to take up space and be louder,” “Don’t let the hard days win,” and “Dream a little more, my friend.”
“What excited me about this collaboration was the opportunity to bring my handwritten notes outside the pages of my journals and photographs, and into people's everyday lives,” the California-based Filipino photographer and artist said. “UNIQLO's LifeWear philosophy felt like a natural fit with my project because it's about everyday clothing that people genuinely live in. This collaboration simply adds another layer of personal meaning to those pieces.”
On Aug. 8, at Uniqlo’s flagship store at Glorietta 5 in Makati City, Geloy unveiled the “Notes to Self” designs alongside the launch of the brand’s 2026 fall-winter jeans collection. Selections include the Baggy Barrel Leg Jeans with its modern silhouette; Baggy Jeans with its relaxed versatility; Women’s EZY Wide Straight Jeans with its look of classic denim and the ease of joggers; and EZY Jeans, designed with the appearance of authentic denim and the comfort of sweatpants.
For Geloy, he hopes that these extra touches to everyday pieces can help people find comfort and encouragement in the things they wear. More than simply adding a decorative element, the embroidered notes are meant to serve as small reminders that can stay with people through both ordinary moments and difficult days.
“Sometimes, we limit ourselves and our dreams, and feel like we are stuck,” Geloy said in Taglish. “I say these words to myself, too, to help me push through. I’m happy that I get to share these with other people.”
“Notes to Self” can now be embroidered onto LifeWear pieces at Re.Uniqlo Studio in Glorietta 5, SM Mall of Asia, BGC High Street, Ayala Center Cebu, and Davao Roadside Store.
