Drinking sessions turn violent: 1 stabbed dead, another shot after being noisy in Rizal
Two separate drinking sessions in Rizal province turned violent after stabbing and shooting incidents left one man dead and another wounded on Saturday, Aug. 15.
In Barangay Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal, a man identified as “Edwin” died after his drinking buddy, “Marlon,” allegedly stabbed him at around 11:30 p.m.
The Tanay Municipal Police Station said the stabbing stemmed from a heated argument between the suspect and the victim, with the reason still under investigation.
Authorities said the argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim with an unidentified bladed weapon.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction, allegedly carrying the weapon used in the commission of the crime.
The victim was immediately brought to the Army Station Hospital in Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal, for medical attention but was declared dead on arrival.
“The exact number and nature of the injuries sustained by the victim are still subject to the findings of the autopsy examination,” police said.
Noisy drinking buddy
Meanwhile, a shooting incident also occurred during a drinking session in Baras around 12 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, leaving a man injured.
Based on the investigation, “Ricky,” the suspect, “Christian,” the victim, and a witness were drinking together in Barangay Rizal when an argument ensued after the victim allegedly became noisy.
During the argument, the suspect allegedly drew a firearm from his sling bag and cocked it, which accidentally discharged and hit the ground.
He then cocked the firearm again, which discharged and hit the victim in the right leg/thigh.
The suspect fled the scene, while the victim was immediately brought to Amang Hospital for treatment.
Authorities said both suspects in the two incidents remain at large and are being pursued.
