Around 5,000 members of El Shaddai gathered at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta, Manila, on Saturday, Aug. 15, as the religious group began the two-day celebration of its 42nd anniversary, with more members expected to arrive for the second day on Sunday.
The El Shaddai DWXI Prayer Partners Fellowship International, founded by Mike Velarde in 1984, is holding the anniversary gathering at the Quirino Grandstand on Aug. 15 and 16.
The first-day gathering drew around 5,000 members to the Manila venue for prayer and anniversary activities, while organizers expect additional participants to join Sunday's events.
As the celebration enters its second day on Sunday morning, members continue to gather at the grandstand, with increased pedestrian activity expected around Luneta, Quirino Grandstand and nearby roads.
Authorities are also deployed around the area to assist with crowd management and public safety as participants arrive.
Motorists and commuters passing through the area may encounter heavier pedestrian and vehicle activity as the anniversary gathering continues.
The two-day celebration is scheduled to continue throughout Sunday, Aug. 16.
