An 18-year-old suspect was nabbed while two minors were located in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old senior high school student during a fight at a billiards establishment in Quezon City on Aug. 13.
Based on the investigation, the victim was with his classmates at around 6 p.m. at the establishment along Quirino Highway in Barangay Pasong Putik Proper when two individuals reportedly arrived and challenged the group to a fistfight.
The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, during which one of the suspects allegedly drew a bladed weapon and repeatedly stabbed the victim before fleeing with companions.
The victim was rushed to Commonwealth Hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician. A cursory examination revealed stab wounds on his left chest and left buttock.
Personnel of Pasong Putik Police Station 16 launched a hot-pursuit operation that led to the arrest of alias “Rei,” 18, a resident of Barangay Greater Lagro, Quezon City, at around 3 a.m. on Aug. 14 at his residence.
Following his arrest, “Rei” allegedly disclosed the identities of his two companions and identified one of the minors as the suspect who allegedly stabbed the victim, prompting the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit to conduct follow-up operations.
One of the minors was located at his residence at around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 14, while the other was voluntarily surrendered by her parents to authorities.
The 18-year-old suspect and the two minors will undergo appropriate legal proceedings for homicide before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
The two minors will also be referred to the Molave Youth Home in Quezon City for proper intervention and disposition in accordance with existing laws and protocols governing children in conflict with the law.
