Eleven public elementary schools in Manila received 308 smart televisions to give teachers additional digital tools for classroom instruction and help improve students’ learning experience.

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso led the turnover of the Samsung 55-inch Smart Televisions donated by the ICTSI Foundation at Rosauro Elementary School.

The television units, which came with full-motion wall mount brackets, will be distributed among the 11 beneficiary schools in Tondo.

The city government said the equipment will help teachers present lessons using more visual and digital learning materials in the classroom.

Domagoso highlighted the importance of cooperation among schools, the local government, and the private sector in improving public education.

“School, City Government, private sector—nagtutulong-tulong. Sigurado naman, hindi na tayo maliligwak sa reading comprehension (The school, city government, and private sector are working together. Surely, we will no longer fall behind in reading comprehension),” Domagoso said.

Teachers and school principals from the beneficiary schools received the equipment during the turnover ceremony.

The mayor said the donation gave the schools another reason to remain hopeful as they continue improving their learning facilities.

“Umuwi kayo na parang nilulugmok tayo ng panahon, cloudy. Pinalulungkot ang buhay natin, pero masaya ako—11 schools in Tondo, umuuwi na may ngiti at hope because ICTSI gave us the opportunity to better our facilities (You may be going home under gloomy, cloudy weather that seems to bring our spirits down, but I am happy because 11 schools in Tondo are going home with smiles and hope after ICTSI gave us the opportunity to improve our facilities),” he said.

The local government said partnerships with the private sector will continue to support efforts to improve school facilities and provide additional learning resources for Manila’s public school students.
