3 bypass roads, Calmay Bridge eyed to ease Dagupan traffic, flooding impact

DAGUPAN CITY--The ongoing construction of the Calmay Bridge and three bypass roads in Dagupan City is expected to provide motorists with alternative routes and help ease traffic, particularly during the rainy and flooding season.

Pangasinan 4th district Rep. Gina de Venecia said she has sought assurances on the continued funding of the construction of the Calmay Bridge during her meeting with DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon and Chief of Staff Allan Yap in March.

The three bypass projects are the Dagupan City–Mangaldan By-Pass Road, Dagupan City–Calasiao By-Pass Road, and Binmaley–Pugaro–Bonuan Gueset By-Pass Road.

Residents here are optimistic that, once completed, the projects will improve road connectivity, reduce traffic congestion and provide alternative access for residents when major roads are affected by flooding.

According to the announcement, funding for the projects has been assured, with completion targeted within 2026.

The Calmay Bridge project is expected to be completed at a cost of P1.8 billion with funding programmed in phases.

Aside easing traffic, the additional road links could strengthen mobility and access to essential services during severe weather.

This include when flooding can disrupt regular routes in parts of Dagupan and nearby towns.
