PH-donated generators arrive in Ukraine

Forty portable power generators donated by a Philippine private-sector group have arrived in Ukraine, providing additional support to civilian communities affected by continued attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure.
The Daiden generators, each with a capacity of 6 kW, reached a hub of Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy on Aug. 12 and will be used exclusively for civilian purposes, including backup electricity for socially important facilities.
The initiative followed a February meeting between Ukrainian Ambassador Yuliia Fediv and Sen. Erwin Tulfo, which helped set the humanitarian effort in motion.
Supplied by Highball Traders Inc., the generators were transported from the Philippines to the Port of Gdansk in Poland before being delivered onward to Ukraine through the rescEU Donations Scheme of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, with support from Poland’s Governmental Strategic Reserves Agency.
The delivery also involved Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., KLN Logistics, the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, the Embassy of Poland in the Philippines, and other partners who helped facilitate the shipment.
For the Ukrainian Embassy in Manila, the assistance carried significance beyond the equipment itself.
“This assistance is much more than 40 generators. It is a tangible expression of the solidarity of the people of the Philippines with the people of Ukraine,” the embassy shared in a statement.
The generators are expected to help strengthen the resilience of Ukrainian civilian communities and support the continuity of essential services amid continued attacks on energy infrastructure.
The embassy also thanked Tulfo, Highball Traders Inc., Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., KLN Logistics, the EU Delegation in Manila, the Polish Embassy, and RARS for helping make the delivery possible.
