The ASEAN Business Advisory Council Philippines has secured a partnership with conglomerate San Miguel Corp. to strengthen supply chain linkages and foster sustainable growth for micro, small, and medium enterprises in the region.
ASEAN-BAC Chair Jose Ma. “Joey” Concepcion III signed a memorandum of understanding with San Miguel Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ramon S. Ang, formalizing a shared commitment to integrate smaller businesses into broader regional value chains.
The agreement underscores the critical role of public-private collaboration as the Philippines prepares to assume the chairship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in 2026.
Micro, small, and medium enterprises account for the vast majority of businesses in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, yet many struggle to scale, secure financing, or connect directly with major corporate supply networks. Through this partnership, the Council and San Miguel Corp. aim to bridge those structural gaps, providing local enterprises with the capacity and corporate links needed to thrive in a competitive regional market.
The strategic tie-up comes as the Council ramps up preparations for two key regional gatherings scheduled for November: the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and the ASEAN Business Awards.
These flagship events bring together government leaders, top executives, and investors from across the 10-member bloc to advance economic integration, policy reform, and cross-border trade.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by ASEAN-BAC Executive Director Patrick Chua alongside members of the San Miguel Corp. leadership, including San Miguel Foundation Chairman Cecile Ang and Executive Director Kin Lichauco.
