Marcos' economic chiefs set strategy for growth amid headwinds
President Marcos’ economic managers will outline their roadmap for navigating global market volatility and domestic pressure at the annual Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) forum on Friday, Aug. 14.
Finance Secretary Frederick Go, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli Remolona Jr., Economy, Planning and Development Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, and Budget Secretary Kim Robert De Leon are scheduled to present the administration's strategies for maintaining fiscal stability and economic growth.
The forum, held under the theme “Strengthening Economic Resilience in an Era of Uncertainty,” takes place at the BSP’s assembly hall in Manila. Discussions will focus on policies aimed at cushioning the domestic market against spillovers from high interest rates in developed markets and supply disruptions.
Key private-sector leaders from the digital financial services and manufacturing sectors are also scheduled to speak. Panelists will address corporate strategies for expanding financial inclusion, improving local supply chain efficiency, and adapting to elevated borrowing costs.
Digital finance providers Maya Philippines Inc. and GCash, along with cigarette maker JTI Philippines, are among the principal sponsors of the event.
Additional financial backing comes from BDO Unibank Inc., SM Investments Corp., Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc., Filinvest Development Corp., Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co., Rizal Commercial Banking Corp., Philippine National Bank, Security Bank Corp., EastWest Banking Corp., and Asialink Finance Corp.
