3 Vietnamese nationals arrested for operating dental clinic in Mandaue without permits

CEBU CITY–Three Vietnamese nationals were arrested for allegedly running a dental clinic without permits in Mandaue City.

Two of the arrested Vietnamese were dentists, police said.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Mandaue City Field Unit identified the foreigners as Phan, 30, Ab, 30, and Pham, 43.

The International Dental Clinic in Barangay Tipolo Mandaue was raided on Monday afternoon, Aug. 10, based on the complaint of Dr. Dirk Farlo Yuson, president of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA)-Mandaue Chapter.

The entrapment operation was conducted after the PDA received reports that dental clinics were operating in the city despite not having government permits in violation of Republic Act No. 9484 or the Philippine Dental Act of 2007.

Prior to the arrest, an operative of the CIDG posed as a customer. Among the services offered in the clinic were tooth implant, teeth braces, and cleaning.

Dentists at the clinic were about to perform tooth extraction when police swooped in.

Police said charges have been filed against the three foreigners.
