Calumpit declares state of calamity as floods hit 29 barangays

Mayor Lem Faustino on Tuesday, August 11, placed Calumpit, Bulacan under a state of calamity after all 29 barangays were submerged by floodwaters from days of heavy rains.

Faustino said the declaration was based on the worsening situation in low‑lying areas, the number of families forced into evacuation centers, and the growing demand for rescue, relief, and basic services.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), chaired by Faustino, recommended the move to the Sangguniang Bayan to accelerate government response.
The declaration allows the local government to strengthen measures for rescue, relief, evacuation, recovery, and other interventions for affected communities.
