Police are investigating the discovery of a fetus inside a trash bin at a condominium in Tondo, Manila.
The fetus was found inside an eco bag at around 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, by a housekeeper, according to police.
Investigators are looking into residents of the condominium as possible persons of interest, particularly those living in Buildings 2 and 4, where the disposal area is located.
Police said the condominium’s large resident population made it difficult for authorities to immediately identify the person who left the fetus in the trash bin.
Police said the area where the fetus was found does not have a CCTV camera, which could have helped investigators trace who disposed of the remains.
Authorities are now checking for possible witnesses and gathering other information that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police said they are also coordinating with the condominium management regarding security measures in the area.
The fetus was subsequently brought to a funeral home.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and that appropriate charges will be determined once the person responsible and the circumstances surrounding the incident are established.
