'Habagat' persists; occasional heavy rains to affect 3 provinces

The southwest monsoon or “habagat” continued to affect Luzon on Tuesday, Aug. 11, with occasional moderate to heavy rains expected over three provinces, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said occasional moderate to heavy rains may prevail over Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
“Ang southwest monsoon or habagat ay patuloy na umiiral sa Luzon, ngunit ang mga pag-ulan ay mas magiging concentrated sa western section (The southwest monsoon or habagat is still prevailing over Luzon, but the rains will be concentrated over the western section),” she said.
Scattered moderate to heavy rains may also persist in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, and Camarines Norte.
The rest of the country will generally experience fair weather, although isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may still occur.
Meanwhile, Dominguez said a tropical storm with the international name “Peilou” was located 3,355 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon.
Dominguez said Peilou is moving east-northeastward and is not expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
It is also not expected to affect any part of the country as it moves farther away from the Philippines.
