TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — A 13-year-old boy was rescued while another remained missing after they drowned in the Cagayan River in Barangay Maddarulug Norte, Enrile, Cagayan, on Monday, Aug. 10.
Police identified the victims as alias “Juan” of Barangay Maddarulug Sur and alias “Don” of Barangay San Roque, both in Enrile.
Don Erickson Orje, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, said their office received a report shortly after 11 a.m. that the two teenagers had drowned.
Rescue personnel immediately responded, and “Juan” was promptly recovered at around 1 p.m. and brought to a hospital.
“Don” remained missing as of press time, with rescuers continuing their search," Orje said as authorities were still determining what happened before the teenagers were overwhelmed by the waters of Cagayan River.
