‎4 dead in Baguio landslide

‎BAGUIO CITY -- Four persons were killed in a landslide in Barangay Guisad Surong here on Sunday night.
‎The fatalities were a 17-year-old female student, a nine-year-old male student, a nine-year-old female student, and a 56-year-old man.
‎Three houses were buried and three were rescued and brought to the hospital -- a 27-year-old male and female and a 77-year-old pastor.
‎Six individuals remain missing as search operation involving 150 rescuers
continues. Missing individuals include children aged three and eight.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said there are 13 victims in the landslide.

Magalong said the area remains dangerous due to the steep hillside and loose soil.
‎Additional equipment is being brought in to help clear a large slab at the site, he said, and residents in nearby high-risk areas have been evacuated as authorities continue to monitor other landslide-prone areas.
‎Magalong said 14 landslide incidents have been monitored in this city amid continued heavy rains.
‎He urged residents to remain alert for signs of danger, including falling trees, soil erosion, and ground cracks, and call 911 during emergencies.
