President Marcos shared that his sister, Irene Marcos-Araneta, has been helping him choose his Barong Tagalog, including the one he wore for his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA).
In his recent vlog, Marcos made the revelation when asked who chose his attire for the SONA held on July 27.
The President said that his younger sister Irene regularly looks for barongs and other clothes that she thinks would suit him, particularly for important occasions.
“Ang mga damit ko, lalo na mga barong ko, ay ang kapatid ko, si Irene. Siya ang naghahanap, lagi naghahanap (My clothes, especially my barongs, are chosen by my sister, Irene. She’s always looking for them)," Marcos said when asked who chose his Barong Tagalog.
"Yung pag may nakita siya na magandang barong o magandang damit, ay kukunin niya at sasabihin niya, ‘Oh, gamitin mo ito' (Whenever she sees a nice barong or a nice outfit, she gets it and tells me, ‘Oh, wear this')," he added.
The Chief Executive recalled that his sister had sent him five barongs to choose from about a month before the SONA.
“Siguro mga one month before nung SONA, meron na siyang pinadala na barong. Sabi niya, ‘Ito, limang magandang-magandang barong, mamili ka' (Maybe about a month before the SONA, she had already sent me some barongs. She said, ‘Here, I’ve picked out five really nice barongs. Choose one')," the President said.
