Several roads in Quezon City were flooded to varying depths on Saturday night, Aug. 8, with water reaching more than five feet in one area and waist-deep levels in other parts of the city.
As of 10 p.m., the Quezon City government reported more than 60 inches of floodwater at West Riverside corner Atty. Pat Senador Sr. Street in Barangay Del Monte.
Waist-deep flooding, or about 37 inches, was recorded at Bernardo corner De Vera in Barangay Mariblo, Parkway Village streets at Geraldine corner Christine in Barangay Apolonio Samson, and 29, 42, and 48 Kapiligan in the looban and tabing-ilog areas of Barangay Dona Imelda.
Knee-deep flooding, or about 19 inches, affected several areas in Barangay Apolonio Samson, including Cypress Village at Opal corner Diamond, Geraldine Street, Antoinette Street, and Christine Street.
The same depth was recorded in Barangay Sto. Domingo (Matalahib) at NS Amoranto corner Banawe, Tirad Pass, Maria Clara-Don Pepe, Maria Clara-AIB, Banawe corner NS Amoranto, and the Talipapa Tabing Ilog alleys.
Several areas in Barangay Sienna also had knee-deep floodwaters, including Don Jose Street corner Sct. Alcaraz Street, NS Amoranto corner Bingo Street, and NS Amoranto corner Palali Street.
Knee-deep flooding was likewise recorded in Block 1 to Block 6 of Barangay Damayang Lagi and Area 3 of Barangay Dona Imelda.
Half-knee-deep flooding, or about 10 inches, was recorded at Araneta corner Victory in Barangay Tatalon.
Gutter-deep flooding, or about eight inches, was reported at Sgt. Rivera corner A. Bonifacio in Barangay Manresa, Quirino RP Sea Oil in Barangay Pasong Putik Proper, and Parkway Village streets in Barangay Apolonio Samson.
In Barangay Sto. Domingo (Matalahib), gutter-deep flooding was recorded at Retiro corner Don Jose, Calamba corner Don Jose, Sto. Domingo corner Calamba, Biak na Bato corner Don Manuel, Biak na Bato corner Samat, and Biak na Bato corner Macopa.
Other areas with gutter-deep flooding included D. Tuazon corner Ma. Clara in Barangay Lourdes, Alley 1 Dulo in Barangay Damayan, and Bai Compound in Barangay Vasra.
In Barangay Sienna, gutter-deep flooding was reported at NS Amoranto corner Banawe Street, NS Amoranto corner Ubay Street, and NS Amoranto corner Tabayoc Street.
Gutter-deep floodwaters were also recorded at Capoas Street Dulo in Barangay Masambong and 19th FB Boundary in Barangay Kalusugan.
In Barangay Tatalon, the affected areas included Kaliraya-Hunters (Bolaños) and Elga Kaliraya.
In Barangay Dona Imelda, gutter-deep flooding was recorded along Palanza-Kapiligan streets, Araneta-E. Rodriguez, Bayani Street, and 100 Kapiligan.
Meanwhile, flooding had subsided along Banlat Road in front of Villa Rebbecca in Barangay Tandang Sora, Commonwealth Avenue corner Holy Spirit in Barangay Holy Spirit, and A. Rodriguez Avenue corner D. Muñoz Avenue in Barangay Tandang Sora.
The Quezon City government continued its efforts to ensure the safety and proper condition of roads in the city and reminded residents to exercise caution.
