PNP secures conviction of 7 cybercrime violators in July 2026

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has secured the conviction of seven people for various cybercrime related offenses for the month of July this year.
Police Maj. Gen. Wilson Asueta, director of the PNP-Anti-Cybercrime Group, said the conviction was due to the strong case build-up by investigators based on the complaints and law enforcement operations.
He said among the convictions were four cases of violation of the Republic Act No. 12010 or the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA); and one case each for grave threat, violation of SIM registration, and violation of the Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act.
“These convictions are products of good case build-up, digital forensic examination ans strong coordination of the ACG with prosecutors and courts,” said Asueta.
Asueta urged the public not only to file complaints but also help in pursuing any case that would be filed in court.
He said strong police-community relations play a key role in ensuring a safe cyberspace.
