At 21, Althea Ablan is ready to find out what else she can do.
After 10 years with GMA, the actress is taking a major step by signing an exclusive management contract with Viva Artists Agency (VAA) in partnership with Arnold Vegafria’s ALV Talent Circuit.
Now, she wants to move toward more challenging, character-driven roles, particularly psychological thrillers, suspense and drama.
“Darating tayo sa point ng life natin na mapapatanong tayo sa sarili natin na ano pa ba yung kaya ko na ibigay?” she said.
“And I think this is the best time to step out of my comfort zone and explore new things po.”
Viva was an exciting choice for Althea because she has long admired its films, Wattpad adaptations and artists, including Sarah Geronimo and Anne Curtis.
“I really like the kind of projects they do, like yung sa Wattpad series, yung mga movies nila. Actually kahit dati pa nanonood talaga ako ng Viva kasi gusto ko rin yung mga artists nila like Sarah Geronimo and Anne Curtis.”
She is hoping the move will allow her to work with different networks and take on roles she has yet to attempt.
“I’m really excited to do a lot of films under Viva and, of course, series na rin,” she said.
She is also open to a love team, although she has no specific partner in mind.
“Pero I’m very open to the idea. Why not, di ba? Walang problema, open ako.”
Among the Viva stars she hopes to work with are Andres Muhlach, Ashtine Olviga.
“I’m hoping and praying na marami po akong maka-work na veteran actress also like sina Sarah and Anne,” she said.
Her contract also includes recording, but acting remains her priority.
For Althea, the goal is simple: keep growing and keep giving audiences a reason to believe in her.
“I’m in the right place with Viva. Gusto ko lang talaga mag-grow pa as an artist, and continue improving my craft.”
She remains grateful to GMA, where she grew up professionally.
“Ten years din ako sa network ko before... ten years na sila po ang family ko. Sa kanila ako lumaki, sa kanila ako nakilala, at sa kanila ko natututunan ang lahat ng alam ko sa industriya.”
Now, with Viva and ALV behind her, Althea is ready to prove what she can do beyond the roles audiences already know her for.
And for the fans who have stayed with her, she has one promise:
“Nireremind ko lang sarili ko na may mga taong naniniwala pa rin sa akin lalo na ang mga fans, so I’m here to continue giving them joy, giving them my best.”
