SANTA ROSA CITY, Laguna – A 41-year-old crane operator was killed and his co-worker was injured after the machine collapsed in a construction site in Barangay Tagapo here on Thursday morning, Aug. 6.
Police identified the victim as Jay-Ar.
Investigation said the fatality and colleague Wang, 38, were working when the crane suddenly collapsed and fell to the ground.
The victims were taken to a hospital where Jay-Ar was declared dead and Wang recovering.
They were employees of the South Commuter Railway Project (SCRP) Contract Package S-05 that has 12.8 kilometers of railway viaduct structures and four elevated stations in Laguna, specifically San Pedro City, Pacita, Biñan City, and Santa Rosa City, as part of the Department of Transportation North-South Commuter Railway project.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
