DMCI is top ORMECO power supplier

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (ORMECO), the lone electricity distributor here, announced Wednesday that it purchased a total of 43.09 million kilowatt hour (kWh) from 10 power suppliers last July.
DMCI Power Corp. topped the list with 20.16 percent. Second was Power One Corp. with 18.36 percent and third was ORMIN Power Inc. with 11.16 percent. Fourth was DMCI Power Corp. (7.17 percent) and Power Pioneers JW & D Corp. was fifth with 6.69 percent.
Rounding up the Top 10 were Greenforce Energy Corp. (5.30 percent), Regulus Energy Corp. (4.78 percent), Catiuran Hydroelectric Power Plant (4.53 percent), Top Team Power Generation Inc. (4.54 percent), and RMS Petroleum Technology and Waste Management Corp. (3.63 percent).
ORMECO said bilateral contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) had 77.12 percent of the 43.09 million kWh bought last month while Emergency Power Supply Agreements absorbed the 22.08 percent and ORMECO-owned hydro power captured only 0.29 percent.
Average generation cost was P11.4263 per kWh, ORMECO said.
“As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, we are sharing the Top 10 Power Suppliers and Energy Mix for July 2026,” ORMECO said in a statement.
ORMECO announced that it received a 100 percent rating for its overall performance and maintained its AAA status for four consecutive years from 2021 to 2024.
NEA said that the performance scores were the result of assessment and evaluation of the electric cooperative’s performance based on prescribed criteria covering financial, institutional, and technical parameters with “AAA” as the highest score and “D” as the lowest rating.
