Murder suspect killed in gunfight with cops

CEBU CITY – A murder suspect was killed in an alleged shootout with police in Cordova town, Cebu province.
Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Balot.
Investigation showed that police received an armed person alarm past 11 p.m. on Wednesday night, Aug. 5.
Police arrived in Sitio Tomoy, Barangay Ibabao, and spotted an individual matching the description provided by the informant.
The man noticed the arrival of law enforcers and ran to an abandoned house and started firing.
Police returned fire and wounded the suspect. He was taken to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital in Lapu-Lapu City where he was declared dead.
Recovered from the suspect were a handgun with four bullets and two packs of suspected shabu.
Police said the suspect was involved in a fatal shooting in the town last July 12. A murder charge was filed against the suspect.
