Alas Women eye breakthrough win in SEA V. Cup, face Leg 1 champ Thais

Alas Pilipinas eyes a breakthrough when it goes for a stunning win against newly-minted Leg 1 champion and host Thailand in the second leg opener of the 2026 Women’s SEA V. Cup at the Chiang Mai Sports Complex Friday, Aug. 7.

Heading into the second leg still searching for their first victory, the Nationals, led by Bella Belen and first-leg Best Opposite Spiker Alyssa Solomon, are determined to turn things around against regional powerhouse Thailand before the latter’s home crowd.

Game time is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. (Philippine time), while Vietnam-Indonesia tiff is set at 2 p.m.

Belen and Solomon must maintain their A-game as they anchor the squad that is missing Angel Canino and Shai Nitura.

Taka Minowa, the newest women’s volleyball head coach, also needs to find ways to score after they suffered heartbreaking defeats that include a five-set loss to Thailand.

Aside from Solomon, Belen, and team captain Jia De Guzman, Eya Laure, Dell Palomata, Fifi Sharma, and young gun Niña Ytang, who scored 14 points against Indonesia, are expected to spark Alas’ offense.

Thailand, on the other hand, leaned on its stars who became Leg 1 individual awardees in Sasipapron Janthawisut (MVP and Best Outside Spiker), Natthanicha Jaisaen (Best Setter), and Kaewkalaya Kamulthala (Best Middle Blocker).
