Classes suspended in Baguio, Benguet due to Maymay

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin Magalong suspended face-to-face classes from preschool to Grade 12 here on Thursday, Aug. 6, due to tropical cyclone Maymay.

To ensure the continuity of learning, schools shall implement the appropriate alternative delivery modalities and Hinay protocol in accordance with Department of Education (DepEd) guidelines.

The suspension of face-to-face classes on the college level is at the discretion of university and college administrators.

The number coding ordinance was also suspended and the public was advised to remain vigilant and monitor official weather and safety advisories.

Gov. Melchor Diclas issued Executive Order No. 2026-55 suspending face-to-face classes on all levels in Benguet on Thursday due to Maymay.

Residents were advised to remain vigilant, avoid non-essential travel, and monitor official weather advisories.

People were urged to 911 for emergencies.

Benguet is forecast to experience heavy rainfall until Thursday which may bring severe flooding and landslides due to the storm.
