Ex-law dean calls out Remulla for statement vs Sandiganbayan justices over Revilla bail

A former law dean called out Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla for allegedly insinuating that justices of the Sandiganbayan committed wrongdoings when they granted bail to former senator Bong Revilla.

In an interview over radio station dzRH's Dos Por Dos, lawyer Judd Roy, former Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) president and law dean, said investigation should be conducted for insinuating that corruption was involved on the part of justices who granted Revilla bail.

"The Ombudsman made a remark implying something against a court. I don't know what he meant but it appears that it's an allegation, it’s an accusation of corruption,” said Roy.

He was referring to the statement of Remulla questioning the decision of two of the justices of the Sandiganbayan to grant Revilla a P1 million bail, adding that he predicted it to happen.

The statement, according to Roy, insinuates that there are some people “pulling strings” in favor of Revilla who is facing a malversation case in connection with an alleged non-existent P92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

For Roy, such statement could undermine the confidence of the public in the judiciary.

Roy said he is wondering why Remulla, being a veteran lawyer, is making statements like those he uttered about Revilla’s bail grant.

He explained that those kind of statement should not come from the Ombudsman.
