CEBU CITY – Police arrested a man allegedly involved in illegal manufacturing of guns in Danao City, northern Cebu.
The 72-year-old suspect, a certain Titing, was caught in the act of making guns in a shanty in Barangay Manlayag when police swooped in on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 1.
Police said the operation stemmed from reports that a man in Manlayag was responsible for the illegal manufacture of firearms in the area.
The Danao City Police Station checked on the report and eventually discovered the clandestine gun-making activity in Sitio Buntod.
Police said the suspect failed to show documents to prove that he was permitted by authorities to manufacture firearms.
Seized during the operation were a KG9 sub-machine gun, four bullets for caliber 9mm, four magazines, and various gun-manufacturing tools and machines.
Police said charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act will be filed against the suspect.
