Makati warns public vs fake news on alleged resto robbery

The Makati City government warned the public against spreading unverified information following circulating reports online claiming that diners were robbed inside a restaurant at Ayala Triangle Gardens.
Through its official Facebook page, the city government reminded the public to verify information before sharing it, urging residents to avoid believing unconfirmed reports and stating, “Huwag maniwala sa fake news!”
It also encouraged the public to practice fact-checking and ensure that information being shared comes only from credible sources.
The warning came after reports circulated online claiming that customers at the restaurant lost personal belongings, including wallets, mobile phones, and luxury watches, during an alleged weekend incident last month.
The report also claimed that one customer lost a Rolex watch that was placed inside a paper shopping bag after being purchased from a nearby boutique.
However, restaurant staff members denied that any robbery took place inside the establishment.
Verification with the Makati City Police showed that authorities had no record of a robbery incident reported at the restaurant at the time of inquiry.
A security personnel stationed outside the restaurant near the mall entrance, meanwhile, claimed that an incident had occurred but did not provide further details or official documentation.
