Sandiganbayan grants Revilla's P1-M bail request in flood control case, orders provisional release

The Sandiganbayan Third Division on Friday, July 31, granted the bail petition of former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. in connection with alleged irregularities in a flood control project in Bulacan.

The court found that the prosecution failed to establish strong evidence of Revilla’s guilt in the charge of malversation through falsification of public documents.

It ordered Revilla’s provisional release upon posting a ₱1-million cash bond, unless he is being held for another legal ground.

However, the court denied the bail applications of Brice Ericson Diaz Hernandez, Jaypee De Leon Mendoza, Arjay Salvador Domasig, Emelita Capistrano Juat, Juanito Coronel Mendoza, and Christina Mae Del Rosario Pineda, citing strong evidence of their guilt in the same charge.

The resolution was penned by Associate Justice Fritz Bryn Anthony M. Delos Santos.

Revilla had earlier posted ₱90,000 bail before the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division in January for a separate graft charge involving the alleged anomalous ₱92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
