A 17-year-old high school student is facing a criminal complaint after suspected marijuana recovered from him in a public school in this highly-urbanized city tested positive in a laboratory examination.
Police Capt. Andy Ofalia, head of Police Station 5, said the laboratory test result came out a few days after the incident happened on July 22.
Ofalia said the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) issued a discernment for authorities to file the complaint before the City Prosecutor’s Office for possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He did not disclose how the student was able to possess the contraband as he is a minor.
A school guard recovered three sachets of marijuana valued at P960 from the student's belt bag at the entrance gate during a routine inspection. Also recovered from him were ceramic pipe, a pair of scissors, and a lighter.
The student is currently under the custody of the Social Development Center (SDC).
