Actress Shanaia Gomez has sparked widespread discussion on social media after claiming she was "made" to film her first on-screen kiss with a man three times her age.
In a TikTok video, Gomez joked about a future documentary chronicling the events of her year.
"Me preparing for my Netflix documentary about how I was trending worldwide #protectshanaiagomez and how I was made to have my first on screen kiss with a man 3x my age all in the same year," the text on her video read.
She captioned the post, "But y'all ain't ready for that yet."
The video quickly gained traction online, with many viewers asking which project Gomez was referring to.
Although the actress did not identify the production, some social media users speculated that she was referring to a scene in "FPJ's Batang Quiapo," where she appeared alongside veteran actor Christopher de Leon. The series is headlined and directed by Coco Martin.
Neither Gomez nor the show's production has confirmed that the TikTok refers to "FPJ's Batang Quiapo," and the actress did not mention de Leon, Martin or anyone else by name in her post.
Likewise, there has been no public response from the production regarding Gomez's social media post as of this writing.
The TikTok has nonetheless reignited conversations about how intimate scenes involving young actors are handled in the entertainment industry, with many social media users calling for greater transparency and safeguards during filming.
Others urged caution against drawing conclusions without additional context, noting that Gomez has yet to elaborate on the circumstances behind her statement.
Should Gomez choose to elaborate, her statement could provide more context about what she meant when she said she was "made" to film the scene.
For now, her post has fueled online discussion while leaving many questions unanswered.
