Marcos hails INC's role in nation-building on 112th anniversary

President Marcos lauded the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) for its contributions to nation-building as the religious organization marked its 112th anniversary, describing it as a steadfast institution that has helped strengthen communities through faith, discipline, and a shared sense of responsibility.

In his anniversary message dated July 27, the President said the INC has grown from humble beginnings into a religious institution whose presence now extends to communities around the world.

"For more than a century, the INC has served as a steadfast guide to a community grounded in faith, discipline, and a shared sense of responsibility," Marcos said.

He added that the church's enduring work serves as a reminder that "a life rooted in devotion and integrity helps reinforce the moral foundation of society."

Marcos expressed hope that the anniversary would reaffirm the church's mission and inspire its members to translate their beliefs into meaningful acts of service.

"I encourage every member of the INC to remain a steadfast partner in nation-building, where faith is demonstrated through service and citizenship is expressed through genuine concern for others," the President said.

He also said the government stands in solidarity with organizations that strengthen families, promote peace, and expand compassion throughout the country.

"May this celebration also inspire renewed reflection on your calling as we continue building the pillars of our Bagong Pilipinas," the President said.

Marcos’ message was issued as the INC celebrated its 112th anniversary on Monday, the same day he was scheduled to deliver his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) before a joint session of Congress.

The religious organization has long been regarded as an influential political force and endorsed Marcos and then-running mate Vice President Sara Duterte in the 2022 presidential elections.

In recent months, the INC has staged large anti-corruption public demonstrations, including rallies related to the legal case involving Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, one of its members.
