ILOILO CITY – Almost 4,000 police officers were deployed in Western Visayas to secure the 2026 State-of- the-Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday, July 27.
The Police Regional Office-6 has intensified security measures for Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the capital city of Iloilo.
“We are fully prepared to ensure that the public remains safe and that activities across the region remain peaceful,” said PRO-6 Director Police Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño.
Other law enforcement agencies are supporting the police and activists were reminded of the “No Permit, No Rally” policy of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Police Major Lailyn Sencil, PRO-6 chief information officer, reiterated that they respect the right to freedom of expression and stressed that protest actions must be lawful and peaceful.
