BFP goes digital, holds 'e-hire' system for fire officer applicants

From the traditional pen-and-paper format, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has now gone online with the pioneer “E-Hire recruitment’’ process and conduct of its first “Digitalized Qualifying Examination.
Under the modernized scheme, a total of 7,913 Fire Officer 1 (FO1) applicants nationwide completed their digital examination on July 23, speeding up the recruitment process and ensuring that all tests are scored fairly and accurately.
BFP officer-on-charge (OIC) Chief Supt. Wilberto Rico Neil Kwan Tiu said that the conduct of the digital examination was coursed through and facilitated by the bureau’s regional offices.
Highlighting the changes from previous recruitment cycles, Kwan Tiu noted that the “digital exam’’ allows applicants to view their results immediately after the examination.
He noted that the modernized examination shift aids the BFP in further promoting transparency and speeding up the entire recruitment cycle for the FO1 applicants
“Through this innovation, we make sure that the hiring is based on merit and fitness, and the process is fast and fair for everyone," Kwan Tiu pointed out.
“Applicants who have passed the qualifying exam and have been included in the quota (based on maximum candidate pool or 200 percent of the quota of qualified applicants) due to their ranking will move forward to the next step as per BFP Memorandum Circular 2026-015,’’ Kwant Tiu explained.
“They are also advised to regularly monitor the official social media channels of their respective BFP Regional Offices for further updates and announcements,’’ he continued.
