She's overseas, but VP Sara still invited to SONA

Vice President Sara Duterte remains on the list of personalities invited to President Marcos's State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the House of Representatives this coming Monday, July 27.
House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil confirmed over the weekend that an invitation had indeed been sent to Duterte, perhaps the Chief Executive's most vocal critic.
However, there's no guessing game this year as to whether Duterte would attend or skip the annual event. This is because the lady offical will be overseas until the end of the month.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) bared last Tuesday that Duterte would be out of the country from July 16 to 31 for a trip covering Qatar, the United Kingdom (UK) and the Netherlands.
Duterte last attended Marcos’s SONA in July 2023, when the top two officials of the country were still politically aligned.
Duterte did not appear in the 2024 and 2025 SONAs despite invitations.
The Vice President is currently facing trial before the Senate impeachment court. The articles of impeachment were essentially vetted and prepared by the largely pro-Marcos House of Representatives.
Vice President Duterte's conviction via impeachment trial is being sought over her offices' alleged misuse of P612.5 million worth of confidential funds; untruthful declarations in the filing of her statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth; unexplained wealth; and death threats to President Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez.
The sitting Vice President is just among the many very important people (VIPs) who get invited to attend the annual SONA.
These include all living former president, Cabinet officials, foreign dignitaries, and other special guests.
