Mayor Nancy Binay on Friday, July 24, offered a reward for information that could lead to the arrest of the gunman who shot and wounded Barangay Councilor JY De Ocampo in Barangay Olympia, Makati City on July 23.

Barangay Sta. Cruz Councilor John Yland “JY” De Ocampo was shot by an unidentified gunman at around 8:05 a.m. on Thursday at the corner of Novaliches and Zapote Streets in Barangay Olympia. He immediately received medical treatment.
“Tinitiyak kong pananatilihing confidential ang inyong pagkakakilanlan at direkta sa mga awtoridad ang ibibigay ninyong impormasyon (I assure you that your identity will remain confidential, and any information you provide will be directly relayed to the authorities),” the mayor said.
Anyone with information was urged to contact the Makati Police Station Tactical Operation Center (STOC) at 0905-330-6480 or the Office of the Chief of Police (OCOP) at 0998-967-4528.
Binay condemned the attack. They also immediately coordinated with his family to extend whatever assistance they might need.
The Southern Police District (SPD) immediately launched a manhunt operation after the mayor directed the Makati police to hasten the investigation and take all necessary steps to identify and arrest those responsible.
Authorities are reviewing available CCTV footage from the surrounding areas of the shooting site to identify and arrest the suspect/s.
“We urgently call upon the community: anyone who witnessed this brazen crime, possesses dashcam recordings, or holds any vital information is implored to step forward and report immediately to the nearest police station. Your cooperation is critical in bringing swift justice,” the SPD said.
Meanwhile, Binay and De Ocampo's fellow barangay officials are praying for his speedy recovery.
The mayor also ordered an intensified police presence in the city’s villages following the incident.
“Buong suporta ng pamahalaang lungsod ang nakalaan sa imbestigasyon… Pinapalakas na rin natin ang presensya ng pulisya (The city government is extending its full support to the investigation. We are also strengthening police presence across the city),” Binay said.
She assured the family of Councilor De Ocampo and the entire Barangay Sta. Cruz community that they are not alone, vowing that every effort will be made to secure justice for the victim.
