Fire leaves 15 families homeless in QC

Fifteen families were left homeless after a fire destroyed adjoining studio-type residential units in Barangay Silangan, Quezon City, on Thursday night, July 23.
The blaze started at around 7:30 p.m. at 209 Ermin Garcia St. and was raised to the second alarm 10 minutes later, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Quezon City.
The fire was placed under control at 8:05 p.m. and was completely extinguished at 10:18 p.m.
Barangay Silangan Chairman Bong Villarba said an estimated 15 families were affected by the fire, which residents believed may have been caused by a short circuit.
All residents were able to escape, and no deaths or injuries were reported.
The affected families were temporarily sheltered at the barangay hall, where the barangay prepared a disaster tent and provided basic necessities, including food, first-aid supplies, pillows, and other relief goods, Villarba said.
