Filinvest Group strengthens community support in Mindanao
FLI’s Mindanao team conducted a relief mission in General Santos City, extending assistance to communities affected by recent earthquakes in the area.
Filinvest Group recently carried out community support activities in Mindanao, with Filinvest Land Inc. and EastWest Bank providing earthquake relief in General Santos City and FDC Utilities Inc. (FDCUI) supporting public schools in Misamis Oriental through Brigada Eskwela.
The initiatives reflect the Group’s view that being a good neighbor starts with understanding the needs of nearby communities and responding in practical ways. Through these recent activities, that meant helping families recover from a disaster and preparing classrooms for students and teachers before the opening of classes.
In General Santos City, Filinvest Land immediately mobilized disaster relief operations after a strong earthquake affected communities in the area. The company activated “Pusong Filinvest,” its community care and disaster relief program, and worked with volunteer teams to distribute essential relief goods to families in hard-hit areas.
EastWest Bank also conducted relief operations through its General Santos branch, bringing employees and community volunteers together to deliver immediate assistance to affected families. The relief effort focused on reaching residents who needed basic supplies as they began to recover and rebuild after the earthquake.
In Misamis Oriental, FDCUI, through its subsidiary FDC Misamis Power Corp., joined the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela 2026. The activity was held on June 4 at Balacanas Elementary School in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.
FDC Misamis Power donated cleaning tools, painting supplies, electrical equipment and supplies, and musical instruments to help prepare several schools for the new academic year. Beyond turning over materials, its electrical team worked directly in more than 10 classrooms, installing, replacing, and repairing wiring and other electrical components to improve the safety and functionality of the learning spaces.
They also reached out to other schools such as San Martin Integrated School, San Martin Elementary School, and Tambal National High School in Villanueva, as well as Santa Cruz Elementary School and Baluarte Elementary School in Tagoloan.
These efforts are guided by Filinvest’s sustainability framework, anchored on being green, inclusive, and resilient. For the Group, this means ensuring environmental protection, reaching underserved communities and broadening access, and helping communities prepare for risks, respond to challenges, and recover stronger.
