Focus crimes in the already peaceful Mimaropa region was further reduced by 48.63 percent in 30 days starting May 8 and also recorded 11 percent in overall crime incidents.
Focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping, and motorcycle theft and Brig. Gen. Christopher Dela Cruz, director of the Police Regional Office 4B, attributed the decline to strategic deployment.
Based on the data for the provinces Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan (Mimaropa), focus crimes decreased from 183 cases to 94 cases from May 8 to July 6.
Among the most notable improvements were the reductions in physical injury by 65.22 percent, theft by 52.27 percent, rape by 50.91 percent, and murder by 33.33 percent, with robbery and motorcycle theft also registering fewer cases, according to Dela Cruz.
On the other hand, the overall crime was down to 840 cases from 944 cases under the same period.
“Behind every decrease in crime is a family that was spared from becoming a victim, and these figures represent safer neighborhoods, stronger public confidence, and the collective efforts of our police officers, local government units, barangay officials, force multipliers, and community partners,” said Dela Cruz.
He said th crime reduction can be attributed to the implementation of security measures that include the DLX (Deployment and Location Cross Innovation) strategy which he launched earlier.
The DLX strategically positions police personnel and resources based on crime trends, operational requirements, and community needs.
“The DLX strategy ensures the right police personnel are deployed in the right places at the right time, allowing police units to respond more effectively to emerging crime trends and public safety concerns” said Dela Cruz.
