Arroyo denies blogger's claim of hand in 'plot' to impeach Ombudsman Remulla

The camp of former president and current Pampanga 2nd district Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has denied any links to a purported plot to impeach Ombudsman Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla.

This was relayed to House reporters by lawyer Joseph Frianeza, Arroyo's legal counsel.

"Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo unequivocally denies knowledge or involvement to a 'planned impeachment complaint against Ombudsman Remulla' that was reported as BREAKING NEWS by Facebook Blogger Mary Car Pasang Serrano," read the short statement sent by Frianeza.

Franieza said the identity of the blogger "cannot be ascertained".

He shared a screenshot of the online pubmat that triggered the Arroyo camp's reaction.

"The FB Page used by him/her contained numerous malicious contents and fabricated materials," Franieza further noted.

In the Philippines, the Ombudsman is an impeachable officer under Article XI, Section 2 of the 1987 Constitution, alongside the President, Vice President, Supreme Court (SC) members, and members of the Constitutional Commissions

There is an ongoing Senate impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Arroyo served as Philippine President from 2001 to 2010. She is also a former House Speaker.
